“SHARING SESSION” with Scholarship Grantee of Ministry Education and Culture


Scholarship is a program of providing financial assistance for the continuity of education for individuals. Scholarships can be given by government agencies, companies, or foundations. Prospective scholarship recipients are required to go through a selection held by the organizers of the scholarship program. This is done so that the organizers can distribute assistance in accordance with the criteria and objectives of the program. In participating in the selection, good information and strategies are needed to match the criteria of the scholarship organizers. Therefore, Himatif Encoder held a “Sharing Session” event on July 16, 2021 at 07.30 pm with speakers Rizki Fitriani, the recipient of the 2019 Ministry of Education and Culture, and Ikhwata Andy Pratama, the recipient of the 2020 UIN Malang Non-Academic Scholarship and the 2021 Bank Indonesia Scholarship. In this activity, the speaker conveys information related to the scholarships that have been obtained.

Speaker Rizki Fitriani conveyed information regarding the Unggulan Scholarship. Unggulan scholarships are educational scholarships provided by the government through the Ministry of Education and Culture (Puslapdik) which aims to improve the capabilities and competencies of Indonesian human resources so that they can support the acceleration of development in the country of Indonesia. This scholarship is given to domestic students who take a maximum of 3 semesters, achievers at the national or international level, and contribute and are competitive in all fields. Students who receive this scholarship will be financed starting from the semester they register until the end of the semester for each education level. The scholarships obtained include tuition fees, living expenses, and book fees.

Currently, there are 108 active students of UIN Malang who receive this scholarship. Selection of this scholarship is relatively easy. The first stage is file selection, the files sent by participants must be complete and appropriate. After that is interview stage, participants must be themselves and convince. In 2020, all selection stages will be carried out online

The speaker of Ikhwata Andy Pratama conveyed information about the PPA UIN Malang Scholarship and the Bank Indonesia Scholarship. At the PPA UIN Malang scholarship, the speaker said that the scholarship was divided into two, namely Academic Scholarships and Superior Scholarships. Academic scholarships can be obtained by active students of UIN Malang with consideration of the GPA that has been obtained, while non-academic scholarships can be obtained by students taking into account the participation of students in their participation as Musyrif/Musyrifah, OMIK (Internal Organization of UIN Malang), winners of first to third place at least at the regional level to International with the categories of sports competitions, research, and the arts. Special requirements that must be met to apply for Academic and Non-Academic Scholarships were also conveyed. The selection process for the PPA UIN Malang Scholarship is quite easy, namely by collecting files according to the conditions mentioned.

Bank Indonesia Scholarships are provided by Bank Indonesia for undergraduate students at various state universities. The scholarships provided include tuition fees, study allowances, and living expenses for on-going students. Scholarship recipients will be members of the GenBI (Indonesian New Generation organization) and will receive training to improve competence, develop character, and leadership spirit. Currently, there are 75 students of UIN Malang who are registered as members of GenBI.

The recipients of the Bank Indonesia scholarship are prioritized for active students from UIN Malang who come from pre-prosperous family economic backgrounds and fulfill the registration criteria. Applicants must understand the registration and selection mechanism. The selection of scholarship recipients consists of three stages, firstly is file selection by UIN Malang, then interview by UIN Malang, and the last interview by Bank Indonesia.

The Sharing Session activity was well received by Informatics Engineering students at UIN Malang. This is evidenced by the number of active participants asking questions during the event. It is hoped that this activity can provide information and motivation to the participants to apply for the desired scholarship.
