Information Systems Study Program, Sunan Gresik University Visit

To strengthen the governance and quality of higher education, the Informatics Engineering Study Program warmly welcomed a delegation from the Information Systems Study Program at Sunan Gresik University. This strategic meeting took place on Friday, June 26, 2026, in the Informatics Engineering Meeting Room, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.

This comparative study visit provided an interactive platform for both institutions to share insights and best practices. The main focus of the meeting included in-depth discussions on organizational structure, study program management, planning and development strategies, and curriculum adjustments and laboratory management to adapt to industry needs.

The discussion session on management and development explained how the study program, established in 2004, has been able to accelerate academic quality. This is fully supported by a strong human resource base, including 34 expert lecturers, including 2 Professors and 12 Doctors, to ensure the delivery of superior education.

Discussions on the curriculum were also enthusiastic. The exchange of information highlighted the importance of grouping expertise to produce specific and competent graduates. This approach is realized through six main knowledge groups that serve as the foundation of learning: Intelligent Systems, Multimedia & Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Web and Mobile Programming, and Systems & Networks.

In addition to curriculum presentations, the management of spatial planning and practical facilities was an equally important agenda item. The visit discussed the management of various specialized laboratory facilities designed to support student and faculty research activities. Several laboratories highlighted in the discussion regarding facility development included areas of excellence in Databases, Mobile Programming, and Digital & Robotic Systems.

The meeting, which took place in a friendly atmosphere, is expected to pave the way for further collaborations in the future. The synergy between the Informatics Engineering Department of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and the Information Systems Department of Sunan Gresik University is a positive step in advancing the quality of information technology education in Indonesian higher education.
