A student from the Informatics Engineering Study Program at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has once again achieved a brilliant achievement. Ach. Fajar Asy’ari (NIM 240605110229) won a silver medal at the 2026 Global Youth Invention and Innovation Fair (GYIIF), held online in Bogor, Indonesia, on January 7–9, 2026.
The award was given in the Innovation Science category for his innovative project entitled “NUSANTARA XR: Marker Tracking-Based AR-VR Platform for Preserving Nusantara Dance and Strengthening National Integration Towards SDGs 2045.”
The NUSANTARA XR project combines Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technology with marker tracking to preserve traditional Indonesian dances. This platform not only aims to document intangible cultural heritage but also strengthen national integration amidst Indonesia’s cultural diversity, aligning with the 2045 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Head of the Informatics Engineering Study Program at UIN Malang expressed his highest appreciation for Ach. Fajar Asy’ari’s achievement. “This proves that Informatics Engineering students are not only competent in programming and technology, but also capable of developing innovative solutions based on local wisdom and national issues,” he said.
The silver medal was symbolically presented at the online GYIIF 2026 event. This event was a collaboration between IPB University, the Indonesian Young Scientists Association (IYSA), and international partners from Thailand.
With this achievement, the Informatics Engineering Study Program at UIN Malang further solidifies its position as a center for information technology development that excels not only technically but also promotes cultural preservation and sustainable development..
