Students of the Informatics Engineering Study Program at the State Islamic University (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang conducted a field trip to PT. Karyatama Solusindo, located in Malang City. The activity, held on Monday, April 20, 2026, was part of a field trip for the Data Science course, which aimed to enrich students’ academic knowledge through hands-on experience in the industrial world.

The student group was accompanied by the Data Science lecturer, Dr. Ir. Fachrul Kurniawan, ST., M.MT., IPU. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between theory on campus and practice in the industry.

During the activity, Dr. Fachrul stated that “Data science is not just about algorithms and code, but also how data is processed into real business decisions. PT. Karyatama Solusindo is the right partner to demonstrate how implementing a data-driven ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) can transform a company’s efficiency.”

PT. Karyatama Solusindo itself is an information technology company widely recognized as a provider of integrated ERP solutions. During the visit, the Informatics Engineering students of UIN Malang received not only theoretical exposure regarding data science architecture in modern ERP systems. They were also invited to see a live system demo, a case study of implementation at a real client, and an interactive Q&A session with PT. Karyatama Solusindo’s team of data engineers and analysts.

This visit exemplified the implementation of a project-based curriculum and strengthened the competencies of Informatics Engineering graduates at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, excelling not only in theory and Islamic studies but also in the era of digital transformation. Through collaborations like this, the study program hopes to continue forging partnerships with various technology companies in Malang and the surrounding area.

At the conclusion of the visit, PT. Karyatama Solusindo welcomed the students’ enthusiasm and offered internship and joint research opportunities in the fields of data science and ERP implementation.
