Review of Curriculum in 2025

The Undergraduate Informatics Engineering Department UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has held the “2025 Curriculum Review” activity on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. This activity took place from 08.00 to 15.00 WIB in the Meeting Room of the Informatics Engineering Department, B.J. Habibie Building.

This event presented two experts as resource persons, namely Prof. Wayan Firdaus Mahmudy, M.T., Ph.D. and Prof. Aji Prasetya Wibawa, M.MT., Ph.D. The goal is to review and improve the curriculum to make it more qualified, relevant, and competitive.

This activity was actively attended by the Head and Secretary of the Department, as well as all lecturers and education staff of Informatics Engineering Department. This full participation shows a shared commitment to realizing a superior curriculum.

This curriculum review activity resulted in several important conclusions. The two materials from the speakers made a significant contribution in strengthening the direction of curriculum development. The focus of development is on improving the quality of learning, research, and scientific publications.

As a follow-up, the Informatics Engineering Department will analyze the results of discussions and recommendations from resource persons systematically. The results of this analysis will be the basis for curriculum improvement in the following year. This step is expected to support the achievement of Superior Accreditation and increase the productivity of research and publications.

Strategic Suggestions for Quality Improvement Based on the review, several strategic suggestions emerged to be acted upon:

  1. Integration of Cutting-Edge Topics: Department need to integrate the latest topics in the field of Informatics into the curriculum. This aims to keep lecture materials relevant to the development of science and technology.
  2. Lecturer Capacity Building: Improving the quality of lecturers’ human resources (HR) is highly emphasized. One of them is through further studies at the doctoral level (S3) to strengthen academic and research capacity.
  3. Sustainable Competency Development: Lecturer competency development needs to be carried out in an ongoing manner through professional training, workshops, and certification. The goal is for the pedagogical and technical abilities of lecturers to be aligned with the needs of industry and society, in accordance with the Outcomes Based Education (OBE) approach. 

The activity went smoothly with the following agenda:

  • Session 1 (09.00 – 12.00): Discussing the material “Synergy of S1 and S2 Informatics Through Research and Publication” by Prof. Aji Prasetya Wibawa, M.MT., Ph.D.
  • Session 2 (13.00 – 15.00): Discussing the material “Achieving Superior Accreditation of Undergraduate and Master’s Programs in the Field of Informatics” by Prof. Wayan Firdaus Mahmudy, M.T., Ph.D.

Both sessions were guided by moderator Nurizal Dwi Priandani, S.Kom., M.Kom. and ended with an interactive discussion and question and answer session. The event was closed with the handing over of souvenirs (vandel) to the speakers and a photo session with all participants. With the implementation of this activity, the Informatics Engineering Department hopes to immediately realize a curriculum that has a positive impact and is ready to compete at the national and international levels.
